this casting is so insanely powerful
things about Joel and Tess that I never stop thinking about:
- how they're so tough and mean and scary to everyone else but so softspoken and gentle with each other
- how they know each other so well that they are basically reading each others' minds
- how they met early on after the outbreak and stuck together ever since
- how they both lost their only child in the outbreak and would have so much understanding for each other's trauma (taking into account the backstory that Craig and Neil had planned for Tess)
- how they are seemingly everything to each other but also seemingly can’t actually say it outright
- how neither of them likely would have been looking for something like this (if anything I feel like they would have been fighting against it), and yet here they are, so they must've finally just decided that it was easier to be together than be apart

That word was a curse and they both knew it. The quickest way to lose something was to love it, and neither of them could take another loss that cut so deeply.
